Opened as a ministry of Kaleidoscope Community Services (KCS) in January of 2014, to serve as collaboratively operated 'downtown living room' for the Church in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. 2SC is modeled after various community spaces around the Northwest such as the Aurora Commons, Mosaic Community Coffee House, and the Hillman City Collaboratory in Seattle Washington (as well as a handful of others).

Currently the 2nd Street Commons is being utilized in a variety of ways every day of the week, including as a day center where people of all types meet to build relationships, get a free cup of coffee and a snack, and share information on resources available in our community. 2SC venue is also available to a variety of other groups who serve those in need, including church ministry groups, social service agencies and civic groups. Because of its unique mission and venue charm, the 2nd Street Commons has become known as a comfortable and safe community hub for information, resources, collaborative initiatives, and building relationships.
